Jim Fowler’s career

Jim Fowler is the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Nationwide. He spent 18 years at General Electric serving as CIO of both GE Aviation and GE Power as well as Global CIO. He was also a member of BostonCIO and GeorgiaCIO. Jim joined Nationwide in 2018 and is currently responsible for the digital transformation of the company’s business.

Fowler’s dedicated nature and wildlife conservation work earned him national recognition. He appeared on Carson’s “Today” show nearly 50 times and also made numerous appearances on late-night shows. Set the jokes and stay on message.

As Chief Information Officer for Nationwide, Jim McLaughlin oversees the entire technology department. His job includes transitioning to a collaborative digital workspace, ensuring all products and processes work seamlessly, and streamlining business processes to make them more customer-friendly.

Before joining Nationwide as its CIO, Jim Fowler spent the last two decades as a senior executive at General Electric. He worked his way up the ranks to become the company’s Global CIO. During that time, he was honored as an ORBIE finalist and was a member of BostonCIO and GeorgiaCIO.

While Fowler had a long and distinguished career at GE, he’s now the Chief Information Officer of Nationwide. Fowler’s role involves driving technology strategy and capabilities as well as driving strategic business transformation programs. Previously, Fowler held various IT roles with Accenture and NCR.

Jim Fowler passion for aviation began long before his career as a pilot began. He worked as a traveling salesman for an annuity. His job had him traveling across the country, visiting annuities wholesalers, and coaching soccer for children. He had two children who would later join the Pilot Flying J’s management. He had been the owner of Pilot Flying J for six years.
